Bing Copeland started surfing in 1949, at the age of 13, at the Manhattan Beach pier. Bing opened his first surf store in the fall of 1959 with his friend Rick Stoner and became one of the most important surfboard manufacturers of the sixties and early seventies. At one point, the factory was producing up to 40 surfboards a day. In addition to its team that built the boards, Bing also had a star team of riders, including David Nuuhiwa, Dru Harrison, Chris Schlickenmeyer and Rolf Aurness, to name but a few. Bing has gone through many changes over the years, but one thing has remained the same: The Bing brand has a rich and enduring history as part of the surf community's roots, and its quality, craftsmanship and innovation have always been second to none.
