In their production facility "The Mothership" in Gailtal, Austria, the snowboard brand CAPiTA manufactures handmade and exquisite snowboards with 100% clean energy and CO2 neutral. In addition, 98% of the materials come from local sources (50% from Austria, 48% from Germany, Slovenia and Italy). The CAPiTA "Mothership" is the most technologically advanced and environmentally friendly production facility in the snowboard industry, for which it was awarded the Energy Globe Award for Austria, among others. The Energy Globe, known as the Nobel Prize of Nature, is the most prestigious environmental award of the present with 178 participating countries. It is awarded annually to projects that deal with renewable energy and resource conservation.
In addition to investing in clean energy, CAPiTA's crew also strives to find new ways to produce responsibly and to find safer, more sustainable and recyclable materials to use in construction. CAPiTA uses water-based, UV-curable and solvent-free inks in printing and zero-toxic varnish in topsheet application (thanks to proprietary PLT technology), plant-based bio-resins in construction and FSC-certified wood cores. More recently, CAPiTA has introduced high-performance additives made from recycled thermopolymers for select board models, replacing traditional carbon fiber.
