What's in a name
It was the summer of 2001, and 21-year-old founder Ryan Daughtridge had just built another set of prototype downhill boards in his father's barn. He was beginning to understand the science of making really good decks, but didn't yet have a name or logo to market them.
That afternoon, his cousin Mike took a bad fall and landed on the table in the emergency room with a busted lip. Ryan looked down at him and said,"Dude, your mom is going to kill me.... your lip is literally bustin open."
Mike looked up in pain and mumbled through his swollen mouth,"call the company BUSTIN BOARDS.".
And so it was decided and still is, like the scar that still stops Mike from getting dates :)
