The Gecko ski touring skin is a world first in the ski touring sector. It adheres to the skis without glue.
Advantages of the Gecko adhesive skin:
It is NOT an adhesive skin. It adheres to dry and wet skis by molecular force (adhesion). Repeated skinning up and down is therefore no problem!
Absolutely user-friendly, as the skins can be put together without a protective film and without sticking.
Dirt on the coating can simply be washed off with clear, warm water.
It is heat and cold resistant from +250° to -70° and adheres even under extreme conditions.
The Gecko coating has a very long service life.

Adhesive layer
- No glue - the Gecko skins adhere thanks to their extremely absorbent silicone coating. Whether the surface is wet or dry, the temperatures are warm or low is no longer important.
- The skins are simply put together without a separating film, which saves a lot of trouble in windy conditions on a summit. They can be separated later without any effort.
- The silicone coating is guaranteed to last longer than the hot-melt adhesive
- Gecko does not tear like conventional adhesive skins.
- Soiling can be removed with Gecko Silicone Cleaning Spray to rebuild absorbency
Sliding layer
- The glide layer is made of 100% mohair, which provides excellent gliding and climbing properties.
- A 20% higher fur density and diagonally woven mohair fibers provide better performance and significantly longer durability.
- The glide layer is hydrophobic to prevent clogging and can be re-impregnated with a spray or wax. A unique feature of Gecko is that the wax can be ironed into the mohair at 100 degrees because silicone is heat-resistant up to +250 degrees. This process would be impossible with a conventional adhesive fur with hot-melt adhesive.
- The sliding layer is perfectly laminated with the carrier material. This prevents the fur from becoming soaked and protects it from mold growth, making it more hygienic.
- The edge of the skin is cut cleanly and does not fray
The touring skins are a natural product. The virgin wool of Angora goats is used to produce the mohair fiber that is used to make the glide layer of high-quality skins. The time of sealskins is definitely over ?
The Gecko Story
Michael Puelacher from Hall in Tyrol, a trained butcher and passionate ski tourer, has always wanted to improve existing ski skins. He tinkered with various materials and invented the first glueless touring skins in 2007. They were called GECKO because, like geckos, they can adhere to smooth surfaces through adhesive forces.
The demand for this world first was huge, but unfortunately so were the teething troubles. As a boxer, Michael has learned to get up again even after hard setbacks and to keep fighting. Production was changed, materials optimized, customers visited and a new version presented.
Since 2015, customers have been absolutely satisfied with the Gecko skins from Austria, the French army swears by Gecko and customers receive a 24-month guarantee on the adhesive layer.
The new Gecko skins are known for their easy handling, excellent gliding properties and long durability.
