Mario Rodwald has invested a lot of know-how, time and love in the research and development of this freestyle deck to achieve a perfect result for you and for our environment.
The KOLD shapes HORIZON was developed to master high performance freestyle and wakestyle. This makes it the most extreme board in the KOLD shapes range and the weapon of choice for 3x European Champion and KOLD shapes founder Mario Rodwald.
The harder flex, less torsion and the slightly straighter outline offer immense pop. This allows you to hold the edge for the most precise take-off and gives you extra room to learn your next unhooked move! Mario has extended the CONTINUOUS ROCKER by a few millimeters to give you perfect control over your landings.
The ANTI NEGATIVE FLEX STRINGER on the board prevents the tips from dipping - a very important feature of this wake deck.
The well-defined ABSORPTION FLEX further enhances the soft landings.
The board comes with a DOUBLE CONCAVE and a complex channel construction - everything supports the extremely precise feel of the HORIZON. Like all KOLD shapes boards, the HORIZON arrives without plastic packaging and is manufactured here in Europe.
The CO2 emissions of the production process are offset and KOLD Shapes uses more sustainable components such as FLAX FIBRE. This board fits perfectly with boots or straps.
The complete board comes with the KOLD shapes ratchet binding or Velcro binding, including TOE RIDGE, MEMORY FOAM and AIR DAMPENING PAD. For extra grip choose the standard FREESTYLE 4.5 fins and for a looser feel we recommend the WAKE 3.0 fins!

Mario Rodwald's goal with KOLD shape is to produce the best performing boards while keeping the ecological footprint on our planet as small as possible. Mario Rodwald is convinced that many of Mother Nature's materials, such as flax and organic resins, can enhance the performance of KOLD shapes products at least as much as chemical products. In addition, KOLD shapes offsets all CO2-Emissions during production through ARKTIK.
The FLAX FIBRE used in KOLD shapes kiteboards is a sustainable and cellulose-based composite that is also highly efficient. It not only reduces CO2 Footprint of the board, it also boasts special mechanical properties compared to carbon or glass fiber. During the development phase of this kiteboard, Mario developed various stringers to support the flex pattern in order to efficiently absorb strong impacts.
The HORIZON board is based on a CNC milled Paulownia WOOD CORE. This is the lightest and healthiest option and supports the flex patterns of the board. To minimize the weight of the board, a 3D top construction was also milled.
The DOUBLE CONCAVE offers maximum support during take-off and landing! In addition, it is designed to support the channel construction and provide extra grip when launching into flat spins off a kicker wave - improving early planning!
The RATCHET BINDING is the easiest system to adjust while riding. The ratchet allows you to tighten or loosen the strap in seconds! To maximize comfort, we have equipped the inside and edges of the strap with MEMORY FOAM.
The AIR DAMPENING system integrated into the KOLD shapes pads is designed to absorb any impact on landing! The air cushion sits under and around the heel and offers maximum comfort - whether you're landing megaloops or simply riding in choppy water. To further improve the perfect stance, we have equipped the pads with a grippy 3D surface. The TOE RIDGE pushes your toes towards the MEMORY FOAM of the binding. We could talk about all the different points of view - but just step in and try it for yourself!
The FLAX FIBRE stringer runs from tip to tip across the entire deck and minimizes the negative flex of the board. This prevents the stringer from dipping into the tip when landing at high speed or when riding with bindings! This is exactly why the POLAR can be so flexible and at the same time offer the performance for extreme landings!
The board's 3D channel and top construction not only minimizes weight, but also provides extremely precise flex. The board is designed to offer super soft landings and maximum comfort at maximum speed!
We have added a lot more to the CONTINUOUS ROCKER than the usual freeride board offerings. Ideal for soft landings and precise take-offs in all conditions. It also increases maneuverability and makes the ride easier while riding.
The GRIP CHANNELS integrated in the DOUBLE CONCAVE and the tips allow you to control the edge at all times - even if you launch the next WOO record completely overpowered! The additional grip improves upwind capabilities and allows you to ride smaller fins to facilitate fast landings.
