Hamboards - surf skates with style
Skateboarding was originally born out of the urge to surf the streets.
Uncompromisingly following this motivation, Hamboards has reinvented surf skating again and again since 1997.
###
With the new HST Trucks Hamboards has succeeded in a very individual driving experience that you have to have experienced.
Coupled with the extremely wide shapes result in previously unimagined dimensions of lean!
Surfers like to talk about their first experience of a floater on land during their first Hamboards experience.
Shortboard surfskates like the Biscuit and the Pescadito allow extreme radii for real sidewalk surfers.
Longboard surfskates like the Logger and the Fish are extremely long for our understanding of surfskates, but don't feel that way due to the HST axles!
A mixture of longboard dancing and surfskating takes place here!
It's interesting how the extreme levers make the rear wheels slide automatically!
SUP skates for land paddling are a whole new category!
With the Street Sweeper Land Paddles and the extremely long Classic and Pinger Land SUPs a real water sport vibe comes up!
HOW TO CHOOSE BASED ON SIZE
HOW TO CHOOSE BASED ON WORDS
Hamboards with the HST trucks is a true rail-to-rail surfskate. Narrower decks are more "stable" and wider decks are more responsive.
What does your own perfect session look like? Do you want to rip on a short skateboard, cruise on a longboard, carve across the asphalt on a surfskate, get your core workout in on a SUP skate, or just close your eyes and feel the snowboard vibe? If you answered yes to any of these questions, Hamboards has a board for you.
Think about your experience level and portability requirements.
If you want a regular skateboard but need more deck to accommodate both feet and want to experience maximum turn on a shorty, we recommend the Biscuit.
It has Indy-style skateboard trucks, solid 24mm block risers and it's almost 18 inches wide. This baby can pump and turn. And it's barefoot friendly.
If you've tried a longboard cruiser but couldn't quite get it to turn, try the Huntington Hop Surfskate with HST trucks.
This is the next level longboard you never thought you could ride. All you have to do is think about turning and you're in. No joke; we've heard it hundreds of times. It makes longboarding so much easier.
When you're ready for pure surfskate performance, reach for the Fish Surfskate, the best high-performance surfskate in the world.
Super-wide and easy to turn, the Fish is a dry trainer for aspiring surfers because it's so incredibly responsive. Groms can practice paddles and pop-ups in the driveway.... And, no shoes required.
If the Fish is what you imagine riding, but it's too big or maybe too much for your skill level, we recommend the Pescadito "little fish" surfskate.
A smaller deck and smaller wheels make this little fish much more manageable than the Fish, but it's still a full surfskate that makes great turns.
The Logger Surfskate is an amazingly versatile board. It has become much more popular since it was upgraded to HST carving trucks and 83mm wheels.
It is a much longer version of the Huntington Hop Carve, with almost 5 feet of deck length. Walk it. Dance it. Cruise it. Carve it. The Logger is a snowboarder's favorite. This is an awesome surf skateboard that is also great for SUP skating.
The Classic and the Pinger are surf skates in their own category.
These are huge boards that weigh quite a bit and have enormous wheels. You'll be surprised how much these surf skates feel like surfing because of their length, width and weight. These things can turn, but they can also cruise farther and farther and farther. The Classic and the Pinger are the best longboard surf skates in the world, made for barefoot footwork and nose-riding.
Hamboards Surfskate Safety
Surfskating is skateboarding and behaves like most board sports. Please skate within your abilities and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for your riding style and environment.
Read this comprehensive study on the risks of skateboarding. Hamboards does not conduct its own safety research, so we rely on outside sources and good old common sense.
The bottom line up front: watch out for cars and prepare for unexpected obstacles. Know and respect your limits.
All Hamboards with the HST trucks have about 30 degrees of board tilt and therefore turn very tight. This is especially true for the shorter boards, like the Twisted Fin. You will need some time to get used to these boards, so please make 100% sure you have shoes, a helmet, elbow and knee pads on when you first try them out. If you are an experienced surfer or skater, you can use less Personal Protective Equipment. However, give yourself a chance to get used to riding first.
Any pictures or videos of Hamboards riders without shoes or other protective gear do not constitute an endorsement for not using personal protective equipment. Hamboards adult team riders and staff make their own decisions and there is always parental supervision or consent for minors. If you are new to skating, do not attempt to ride a skateboard without personal protective equipment.
To get off your Hamboard, take your back foot and step forward off the board onto the ground. This will create an "equal and opposite" force vector to the rear, slowing or stopping the board in its place.
